After fragmentation of United Soviet and Turkmenistan independency, passenger and goods traffic started only in semi-official Bajgiran path and under border pass authorities between Iran and Turkmenistan. As Bajgiran is close to Turkmenistan’s capital, large amount of exports from Khorasan province is carried out to Turkmenistan. In 1381, Turkmenistan became one of the main transit goods sources with 6.2 percent and also with 7.6 percent is one of the major transit goods destinations from Iran.
While there is a small border market in Bajgiran region and short distance between Bajgiran border and EshghAbad capital of Turkmenistan among common border sources in both sides and also adequate road between Bajgiran border and EshghAbad main Iran’s export to Turkmenistan is done through this border terminal.

Bajgiran border terminal is constructed in an area with 12 ha and 7260 m2 infrastructure in which main building has 6000 m2 with two side flanks. The building’s design is compatible to climatic conditions of the region and supply considered persistence in this field since cold weather and large amount of precipitation and long term winter dominate the region.
The terminal equips infrastructure facilities such as heating and cooling system, emergency power supply with 100 KW generator diesel installation, trans and required branches in consuming power supply, consuming water supply with range of 90 m3 per day, area lighting, closed circuit TV, fire alarm and firefighting, custom inspections, computer systems and central telephone. In the upper floor there are official ceremonies and trade part (goods) custom establishment.
