  Mehran border terminal
Geographical features
 

Mehran border terminal is located in southwestern Iran and in Ilam province and 85 km away from capital. The terminal is in zero border point between Iran and Iraq. Nearest Iraqi city, Zurbatieh is 15 km far from this terminal.

 
  Construction reasons
 

Mehran border is closest and easiest way for holy shrines (Najaf and Karbala) pilgrims. Najaf to Mehran border is 180 km and Karbala to this border is 240 km. Thus pilgrim’s traffic increase since 2003 and also tendency to travel through this border are the reasons for construction. On the other side, Pakistani pilgrims travel Syria through this border.

 
  Technical features
 

After opening Mehran border and in order to organize passengers’ traffic and provide necessary facilities for pilgrims (travel Karbala through Mehran border) organizing and implementing Mehran border terminal’s comprehensive plan started. In organizing phase, a temporary passenger hall about 1000 m2 area with partitioning and organizations establishment were performed in this hall. The hall is equipped heating and cooling instruments, water cooler, cart for carrying passenger’s luggage and so forth in order to comfort passengers.
