Sarakhs border terminal is located in Khorasan Razavi province and 186 km. away from Mashhad and 20 km. far from Sarakhs (Economic region) and is consider as an intermediate ring between countries that are the members of North-South corridor.

According to the membership of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in agreement of North-South corridor, this border terminal is consider as a communication bridge between above mentioned countries and Iran, India and Russian-Federation. Also, most of exported cargos are transited to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan through this border terminal by Iranian road fleet (because this route is very short.)
Furthermore, the existence of special economic region near Sarakhs terminal and Mashhad-Sarakhs-Tajan railway which at the end connect this raily route to central-Asia countries, increase the importance of this terminal.
