Shalamcheh border terminal is located between border of Iran and Iraq in Khuzestan province and 15 km far from Khorramshahr city.
Construction reasons and importance
Non-oil export development, placing in geopolitical situation and potential xenoeconomomic capacities in the province and accessibility to primary materials, is the reasons for constructing the terminal.
Technical features
Shalamcheh border terminal is predicted in about 5 ha area and based on studied being carried out by plan consultative engineers, its first phase is started with passenger hall construction. Passenger hall is under construction in area about 1000 m2 and because of region’s climatic conditions it is attempted to equip the building with cooling instruments and using required equipments and to reduce passengers and pilgrims (to Iraq) stop time. In this hall necessary facilities and instruments are allocated for organizations settlement. After finishing first phase it is decided to start second plan phase based on regional needs and in order to facilitate and accelerate goods and vehicle transportation.
