According to designated objectives, fundamental duties are notified as follow:

Regulating guidelines, policies and programs of road transportation and coordinating various sectors involved in transportation as well as monitoring and controlling road transportation affairs and providing necessary proposals in order to observe economic productivity and facilitate communications at the time of ratifying statewide road construction projects.

Constructing, utilizing, expanding and maintaining complexes for goods terminals and other required installations such as TIR parking lots and other en-route general and welfare service complexes as well as centers for traffic distribution, control and monitor.

Monitoring passenger transportation companies in terminals to ensure correct implementation of passenger transportation rules and regulations.

Provision and regulation of bills, ratifications, bylaws and necessary directives regarding local and international transportation affairs and presenting them to State Supreme Transportation Coordination Council and other authorities to confirm, ratify and pursue ratification.

Issuing activity permits to road transportation companies and other necessary permits and authorizations in local & international transportation activities

Provision of necessary arrangements to facilitate transit & export affairs

Provision of necessary accommodations to facilitate promotion of safety level and services as well as decreasing environmental damages in statewide road transportation sector.

Review & determination of type, number and specifications of existing and required transportation fleet for road transportation sector and also cooperation in provision and distribution of such fleet.

Centralization of fundamental road transportation data & statistics in cooperation with related organizations and institutions and establishment of data bank.

Issuing permit for construction of en-route welfare-service complexes and installations by public, cooperative and private sector.

Issuing permit for special utilization of statewide roadway network such as transit permits to foreign vehicles and special permits for traffic loads in accordance to relevant rules and regulations.

Scheduling special and general training programs for employees of the organization and providing necessary ground for developing required specialties for statewide road transportation fleet through local and foreign training centers.

Carrying out commercial affairs on road transportation sector towards fundamental duties & objectives in the framework of relevant rules & regulations.

Conducting applied studies and implementing research projects required by the organization.
