Cargo transit through Iranian territory reached to 9.1 million tons in 1383 (2004) from 3.6 million tons used to be in 1379 (2000).

IRAN’s report based on statistics released by Road Maintenance and Transport Organization says: “this volume of cargos includes cargos transited through roads network, railways and SWAP”.

This report says: “cargo transit through roads network increased from 2.1 million tons to 3.4 million tons a year, and cargo transit through railways increased from 623 thousand tons to 1.4 million tons a year”.

Based on road transport annual statistical reports released recently, last year from total 77 thousand trucks carried import cargos, 42 percent were Iranian trucks and the remaining 58 percent belonged to foreign trucks.

In export sector, from total 85 thousand trucks carried these cargos, 75 percent were Iranian trucks belonged to domestic transport companies.
